Project Overview
Padel is one of my hobbies, I use the app daily to create matches and reserve courts. During these interactions I noticed that some flows are tangled, and that is why I have decided to redesign some of them.
My contribution
For this solo project I investigated user feedback on online stores, interviewed real users, prepared hi-fi clickable mockups and tested them with real users.
User interviews
In order to have a better understanding of users pain points, I interviewed 5 different users who use the app daily.
Online reviews
I reviewed user feedback from the Apple and Google app stores, categorizing comments to identify recurring themes.
This process provided valuable insights into the key areas needing improvement.
Pain points
Reservation system
Users find it difficult to understand how to reserve padel courts through the app. They describe the interface as “unintuitive, confusing, and outdated in design.”
Block players
Some users expressed frustration over the inability to block certain profiles. Since any player can join any match, this often leads to dissatisfaction among more experienced players who prefer to compete with others at their skill level. As a result, many choose to abandon matches rather than play with lower-level opponents.
Obsolete design
The app's design hinders smooth navigation, feeling outdated and unintuitive. The complexity of the interface slows down interactions, as users must navigate through the main menu for every new task, with key categories inaccessible elsewhere.
Fixing the pains
Reservation system
The redesigned interface simplifies the reservation process, aligning more closely with users' mental models:
Book directly from the main page: Access courts easily via the carousel or navigation menu.
Quick access to available dates and times: View scheduling options at a glance.
Convenient toggle switch: Seamlessly switch between individual and double courts.
Blocking users
Users now have the ability to block players within the ‘Circulo’ section, where they can manage friends and friend requests. Additionally, when creating a match, the new ‘Only Friends’ option allows players to restrict the match’s visibility exclusively to their friends.
Obsolete design
The design is now more user-friendly, aligning with users' mental models and facilitating smoother navigation throughout the app.
Key call-to-actions are now easily accessible from the home page and navigation bar, enhancing the user experience by allowing faster access to the most frequently used pages.
